An important aspect of NbS is recognising that nature is, in almost all cases, deeply rooted in society. When discussing NbS, therefore, there is an urgent need to recognise the impact that NbS initiatives will have on the people who regularly interact with the resources in question. To ensure that NbS initiatives do not result in the violation of human rights, more weight should be placed on the role of culture and local context in informing effective and equitable NbS practices.
